Farmer’s Market Finds is always searching for products that are out of this world and Joy’s Gourmet, Garlic Joy, is one of those. In early 2000, self professed foodie and aerospace engineer, Jean Najjar, decided to replicate the mosaic of tastes and smells he remembered growing up in Lebanon. While still working on sending rockets into space, Jean went into the kitchen using the same ingredients available to his grandfather: garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and salt, to recreate the old world Mediterranean flavors of his childhood. After a series of trial and error, the original Garlic Joy was created. With the recipe perfected, Jean’s friends dubbed the new product “Lebanese Caviar!” The creamy garlic spread was quickly picked up by 4 national supermarket chains, but after a few years of trying to keep up quality and production, Jean decided he preferred the warm, friendly environment of Farmer’s Markets as the way to sell his Joy! Since 2010, Garlic Joy has been solely a farmer’s market find. Now in a variety of flavors, the spreads can be used as spreads, dips, marinades, toppings or sauté bases.
With its success, Jean went to work creating other Mediterranean products and Joy’s Gourmet now makes delicious pasta sauces, tapenades, artichoke and olive salads, salad dressings, and even salsa. All the products come in multiple flavors using all natural ingredients. Using no preservative or artificial ingredients, all of Joy’s Gourmet products are vegan and free of dairy,cholesterol, trans fat and sugar.

- 1 Large Eggplant
- 1 Joy’s Gourmet Olive Salad
- 1/2 Cup Joy’s Gourmet Fire Roasted Bruschetta
- 4 Tbsp Green onion, diced small
- 2 Tbsp JOY’s Gourmet™ Garlic Original
- 3 Tbsp Fresh Basil, chopped
- 1 loaf French bread, cut into slices
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (optional)
Cut the eggplant into ½ inch square pieces. Roast in a skillet in olive oil, just enough to cover the eggplant, and cook until tender. Combine Roasted Eggplant with one jar of Joy’s Gourmet Olive Salad and the Roasted Bruschetta. Spread JOY’s Gourmet Garlic on bread slices with desired amount and either grill the bread or places it in the oven just until it is slightly crisp. Spoon Bruschetta mixture onto toasted bread slices. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, garnish with Fresh Basil and serve immediately.
